Storage
Object storage (S3)
S3 stores files as objects inside buckets and serves them over HTTP. It scales automatically and is designed for very high durability.
Buckets and objects
A bucket is a container with a globally unique name. Each object is a file plus metadata, addressed by its key, e.g. topics/index.html.
Access control
Buckets are private by default. Public access can be granted through bucket policies or object ACLs once “Block all public access” is turned off.
Static website hosting
With static website hosting enabled, S3 serves an index document (usually index.html) and an optional error document from a website endpoint.
